As is echoed gloriously in the Holy Mass, it is God who has "formed the noble nature of man."

This in itself is a high calling to which all Catholics must aspire, and we could always use a little help from one another along the way. Holy Scripture tells us "as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."1 Those of us who are fathers also have the responsibility to "bring up [our] children in the ways and instruction of the Lord."2

First and foremost, this association of and for Catholic gentlemen is intended to foster and promote holiness; "a more intimate unity between the everyday life of its members and their faith" 3; the faith in full, as interpreted by the Church’s Magisterium, and in which we must commit "in loyal readiness, to embrace all doctrinal teachings and pastoral initiatives of both our Pope and our Bishop."4

Pope John Paul II requested that we, as lay members of Christ’s faithful people, "take an active, conscientious and responsible part in the mission of the Church"5 and "keep a watchful eye on our world, . . . [as to its] economic, social, political and cultural affairs"6 because "the Laity, by their very vocation, seek the kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and ordering them according to the plan of God."7 We are to accomplish this, he says, by "imbuing culture and human activity with genuine moral values . . . [to] better prepare the field of the world for the seed of the Word of God."8
